This article is hopefully going to help provide you with an understanding on the differences between all the strap choices you may have with your chosen watch.
With different times of straps or bracelets comes a different type of material used to create these straps and bracelets. When purchasing a timepiece with a bracelet strap, the majority of the time the material used to create this is Stainless Steel. Stainless steel is normally the choice to be hardwearing but with a silver look that allows the watch to still look and feel luxurious.
The bracelet strap can be made of multiple different metals, which obviously stainless steel being the main choice. However in some instances, metals such as Titanium are used and give off a similar look and feel to Stainless steel but with a darker finish and a more lightweight feel. Most of the time Stainless Steel with be plated with things such as gold, rose gold and PVD.
Some brands have been known to make collections of watches out of ceramic, which is reportedly four times harder than Stainless steel. It also offers a variation in colours making it easier to make watches that will appeal to a wider audience of wearers. With ceramic comes a modern twist that many brands are bringing to the table.
The most luxurious of ladies watches will normally use precious metals to produce their bracelets, with gold being the most popular. It’s the perfect accompaniment to occasion wear and again is a hardwearing option for the bracelet to be made in.
When it comes to straps on watches, there are plenty of alternative options that can be used to create a different look for each wearer. Genuine leather tends to be a favourite for more comfort and style. There are other finishes of leather that are used to affect the finish on the strap but most of the time it is just genuine leather.
Rubber is also very popular, especially for sports watches. Rubber is durable, comfortable and close fitting, allowing for the precision of the tech that comes with a smart sports watch. Like rubber, plastic is also used in watch straps as they are more affordable to create and can be used to create different colours and styles to fit alongside the watch.
Fabric watches give a more casual comfortable feel to a watch, as well as practical wear for every day. It is also used for different variations of straps for sports watches, again due to providing comfort to the wearer.
